A Passion for Health and Happiness

I AM SO EXCITED! I feel like all my career and life experiences have led me to this point, my new job. I have been a public relations professional, a program manager, a community gardener, a co-author of 4 local history books, a TV show, blog and website producer, a non-profit director, and for the last ten years a community affairs manager for my community hospital.

I am so very happy to finally have my intrinsic goals match my career goals in full alignment. I cannot wait to begin. I will be the new Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods Healthy Communities Project Manager. It is a new Beaumont program to create a community strategic plan to address health concerns, and create a healthier, happier community.

What will this mean for the community? Depending on the goals created by the community, we could do fun things like healthy cooking classes, dinner gatherings to address loneliness, walking and biking groups, mindfulness, purpose development workshops, community dances, and lakeside yoga! The possibilities are endless.

Everyone is welcome to be a part of it.  According to Beaumont’s website, “Each Healthy Community is a partnership between Beaumont, the city’s mayor and the city’s public school superintendent. Individual Healthy Communities feature formalized coalitions with membership including residents and representatives of local government, schools, business, health care, social service, faith based and other community organizations. Coalition members work collaboratively to optimize the reach of existing programs; and support development of new programs, events and land use that promote healthy living in their community.”

There is a place and a role for everyone! Ready to get started? Just let me know!
