It is never too late to be who you want to be!

I am excited to start my sixth decade today and am feeling very grateful to still be here to do so. I have lost many friends and family that I have known and loved, and still love, and recognize it is a privilege to age. I am working on aging as healthy as I can by strength training, biking, rowing, and paddle ball. I want to look forward to retirement and be learning and trying new things with each decade. With that in mind, I am beginning an art journey. I have created a new website store to keep all my photos and paintings in one place and will add new artwork to it as I follow this challenge.

The store is in two locations, the link above, and on my Society of Joy Spreaders site. Please take a look and let me know what you think? I am beginning to see my style emerging. It is great to have the paintings and photos is one place. I plan to add more as I create new art. I lose myself when I paint, and I know that is good for your soul. When you start to realize your time on this earth is getting shorter, you should make sure you do the things you enjoy while you can!

My Artist Statement:

Take some time to celebrate the local, the small-scale, the ordinary. Pause and find the beauty in local history, a flowerpot, or garden, while it still stands. Getting outside and giving thanks to our surroundings is good for the soul. Appreciating beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to slow down and helps us reconnect with nature. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.
